Gallbladder Removal (Gallbladder Mucocele)
The gallbladder is a resevoir for the bile produced by the liver. The most common cause for elective gallbladder removal is when the bile (fluid stored in the gallbladder) becomes viscous and clumpy, causing an obstruction of the main duct that connects the gall gladder to the intestines. This disease is called gallbladder mucocele and can become an emergency if the gallbladder ruptures. Gallbladder removal fee at VSO is NOK 30 000,- and includes IV catheter, general anesthesia, pre- and post-op pain medication and collar which has to be used for 2 weeks, until suture removal. Not included in this fee is any follow up appointments as most clients choose to have these done at their local veterinarian.
