Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture

Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture (CCLR) is a common orthopedic disease in dogs and less common in cats. There are several ways to surgically treat this disease and here at VSO we offer Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) for all sizes of dogs and cats, as well as Lateral Fabella Suture (LFS) in certain cases. Currently TPLO is the most reliable technique to treat CCLR returning the patient to normal function, pain free status and excellent quality of life. Once the cranial cruciate ligament is ruptured, the knee becomes unstable which results in pain and inflammation. The goal of TPLO is to change the angle of the tibial plateau so that the instability is neutralized. After the bone is healed, even athlete or work dogs can return to normal routine and activities.

TPLO fee at VSO is NOK 45 000,- and includes x-rays taken before and after surgery, IV catheter, general anesthesia, metallic implants, pre- and post-op pain medication. Not included in this fee is any follow up appointments as most clients choose to have these done at their local veterinarian.
